Emplate
(216)BASS / CDNBC // ClevelandDNB
Todd Hall aka emplate first heard the sounds of jungle/drum n bass in the summer of '96 and was instantly hooked. Having been a drummer for years and influenced by hip hop, metal, industrial, classical, jazz, etc., he felt as if the music he had just experienced was a melting pot of everything he had heard before it. He promptly started going to as many parties and clubs as possible and grabbing several mixtapes in the process. After years of playing small events, side rooms and house parties he got his first break when in 2006 he was asked by Secret Sauce & Zeno to be a resident at the now defunct Wednesday weekly "in:verse" held at Touch Supper Club. The night gained respect throughout North America for showcasing local talent alongside names like Klute, Flight, Random Movement, Submorphics, Carbon Community & more. In the years following this, emplate made several new friends in the scene & went on to help develop The Cleveland Drum n Bass Coalition and 216bass.com, both platforms for Northeast Ohio DnB heads to use as a vehicle for their careers. Since then they have gone on to do several events and weeklies throughout clubs in Cleveland, including the Monday weekly "study:sessions" and events such as "Clash of the Titans", "Oscillate", "DrumFusion", "Bring Your Own Bass" and more. Looking into 2010, emplate looks forward to Djing, Promoting and Booking more events & radio shows, along with the new challenge of starting an Artist Management company called "The 18th". This has always been a dream of his and he looks forward to helping the Production/DJ careers of Andy James, Brent Still Life, RLS - DSurr and others. He has also started work on compiling and mixing the first (216)Bass mix cd which will feature tracks by local Producers as well as those by Artists that have come through Cleveland recently. Be on the lookout for the CD at a location near you.
